Pickerel area chase suspect remains jailed

A Kaukauna man arrested near Pickerel this week following an intense manhunt in neighboring Forest County remains jailed today on a series of criminal charges.

According to the Forest County District Attorney’s office, a $50,000 cash bond was set Wednesday for 27-year old Eric Vandynhoven for 14 separate offenses. They include three for causing criminal damage to property, second degree reckless endangerment of safety, theft, burglary, two counts of kidnapping, and six counts of bail jumping. School Safety

Classes within the Antigo school district began Sept. 1.

The Antigo Police Department encourages drivers to slow down, watch for children walking or riding their bicycles and to be alert when around school buses as they make frequent stops.

The speed limit in school zones is 15 mph when children are present.

Parents are asked to be aware of bus zones and encouraged to follow school directives in dropping your child off at school.

Squad car damaged in crash with cycle

Sept. 1, 2010

An Antigo Police Department squad car was damaged overnight in an accident involving a motorcyclist.

Authorities said patrolman Kyle Rustick was traveling south on Clermont Street when he traveled into the path of a westbound cycle operated by James T. Laycock, 23, of Antigo.

Laycock initially complained of wrist pain and reportedly sought treatment at Langlade Hospital.

Elcho school board reviews new goals

Aug. 27, 2010

The Elcho school board reviewed goals for the upcoming school year and inked an agreement with its support staff union on Wednesday.

At its regular August session, the board approved district and school board goals, setting the stage for the opening of the fall term next week.

District goals include:

—developing a five year curriculum plan that includes evaluation, state standard alignment and data analysis.

—creating learning communities to focus on the development and implementation of individual learning plans...
