Antigo Area Weekend Activities

The classic snowmobile cruise, a great party for the NFL championship and trivia at North Star are among the highlights of the first weekend of February in Langlade County.

A look ahead, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal’s advertising columns, follows:

TRIVIA NIGHT

Boys & Girls Club of Langlade County will host Trivia Night, with plenty of swag for participants and a great lineup of prizes, tonight at North Star Lanes. The winning team gets $250 and there are also prizes for best team costume and best table decorations. All participants will receive free beer and popcorn. There will be also a dinner and a movie raffle basket, along with a 50/50.

The trivia contest will include four rounds of trivia plus and other games. Each round has a variety of topics such as sports, history, music, famous people and even Antigo Pride.

Registration is $50 per team of four to six people. Individuals can come in, pay $15, and be placed on a team.

All proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

CLASSIC CRUISE

The Deerbrook Bridge Runners Snowmobile Club will host its 15th annual Classic Cruise vintage and antique snowmobile ride on Saturday, headquartered at Quinn’s Bar in Neva Corners.

Registration is at 10 a.m. with the ride at noon. There will be food, drawings, prizes and karaoke after the ride.

The $10 fee includes commemorative lapel pin, soup and sandwich supper and a chance to win $100. There will also be a raffle for a 1972 Arctic Cat Panther with a Kitty Kat.

Riders are invited to bring a nonperishable food item for local pantries, which will also receive a percentage of profits.

SUPER BOWL

Not Bob’s Bar & Grill on Antigo south side will hold a Super Bowl party on Sunday starting at 4 p.m.

There will be raffles, drink specials and snacks along with shots when the NFC Philadelphia Eagles score.

MUSIC

Mohican North Star Casino Resort at Bowler will host Michael Carbonaro Saturday and Peter Cetera on Feb. 16.

SPORTS

The city of Antigo Park and Recreation Department is promising it’s going to be a fun February.

The fun starts with a Pickleball Clinic on Saturday, 9 to 10 a.m., at Karl’s Transport. Register at www.antigo-city.org/rec1.

Winter Fun and Wellness Day will be held in conjunction with the annual broomball tournament on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2 to 4 p.m., in Peaceful Valley Park. Everyone is welcome to come for the free activities. Register your broomball team at www.antigo-city.org/rec1.

The city will also host an open skate on Monday, Feb.. 26, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the indoor ice in the multi-purpose building at the fairgrounds.

MOVIES

Starting tonight at The Palace Twin Theater are Hostiles, rated R, with Maze Runner, rated PG-13, continuing.

Starting Thursday, Feb. 8 is Fifty Shades Freed, rated R, with tickets on sale now.

HAVING A BALL

Make plans now for the seventh annual Snow Ball, hosted by Langlade Area Arts, on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Timber Haven in Polar.

Music will be by Hip Pocket with dancing, desserts, hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, a silent auction and more.

For one night, Timber Haven will be turned into an elegant Winter Wonderland by New York designer and Antigo alumnus Jeremy Doucette.

Tickets are $40 each and are available at the Antigo Daily Journal, Neve’s Floors to Go, Furniture and Mattress Gallery and at the door. Ride the Polar Express from Dunham’s parking lot in Antigo between 6 and 11 p.m. for $10 round trip.

Proceeds will benefit L.A. Arts.

OTHER EVENTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum has switched to winter hours. It is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Winter hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment.

Give blood and help save a life. Aspirus Langlade Hospital, in conjunction with the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin, will hold a blood drive on Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the hospital conference room.
