Antigo Area Weekend Activities

Enjoy a magical evening of music Saturday, while supporting the Antigo High School band.

The concert and dinner will be held at North Star Lanes Saturday night, with music by the jazz ensemble and Canto Voce choral group. It is sponsored by the Antigo High School Band Boosters.

There are many more holiday events on the docket as well. A look ahead, taken from the advertising columns, follows.

MAGICAL MUSIC

Enjoy An Evening of Magical Music while supporting the Antigo High School Band’s upcoming performance at the Magic Kingdom.

The dinner performance fund-raiser, will take place on Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at North Star Lanes.

The elegant event will feature dinner, distinctive desserts, and silent auctions. The high school Jazz Ensemble and Canto Voce will be performing throughout the evening.

Tickets are $25 each and are available at Antigo Dental Clinic and the high school.

SANTA AT MUSEUM

St. Nick has taken up residence at the Langlade County Historical Society Museum for regular visits with good little boys and girls and maybe a few who weren’t so good but want to make amends.

Hours are tonight, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.; Monday through Friday, 6 to 8 p.m.; and concluding Saturday, Dec. 23, 1 to 4 p.m.

MORE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Held’s Holiday Who-vilation celebration themed The Grinch That Stole Christmas, will take place on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m., Held’s Bar in Deerbrook. there will be a costume contest at 10 p.m. along with games, music, Grinch appetizers and cocktails.

Antigo High School will hold its Christmas choral concert, Monday at 7 p.m., in the Volm Theater at the high school.

Other upcoming events include:

—Holiday swim, Thursday, Dec. 28, 2 to 7 p.m., Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center.

—and the ongoing Winter Wonderland display at the Peaceful Valley Festival Grounds.

MUSIC

North Star Mohican Casino resort at Bowler will host Tracy Byrd in concert tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40, $30, and $20.

Hip Pocket will be rockin’ The Refuge on Saturday, 8 to 11 p.m. There is no cover charge.

MOVIES

Now showing at The Palace Twin Theater are Star Wars: The Last Jedi, rated PG-13, and Ferdinand, rated PG.

SPORTS

Potawatomi Carter Casino has Green and Gold game day specials on Dec. 17, 23 and 31. Enjoy pizza, wings, brats and French fries along with buckets of beer and Bloody Marys.

Little Lady Red Robins Basketball Camp, for girls in grades one through four, will take place on Saturdays at the Middle School multi-purpose gymnasium. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon. The camp is sponsored by the high school girls basketball program with Dale Lenzner as head coach.

Stop down at Not Bob’s for Packer game day specials. There are shots for scores.

DINING

The Antigo Elks Lodge will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Monday, 5 to 7 p.m., featuring Sartori cheese. The menu includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, hot garlic bread, plus ice cream, coffee and milk.

OTHER EVENTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum has switched to winter hours. It is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Winter hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment.

Eli’s Warriors will host a blood drive on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the multi-purpose building at the fairgrounds. It is in honor of Eli Kassler, 11-year-old hockey player and outdoorsman, who is battling leukemia.
