Businesses do special things for the holidays in the Antigo area
space
Two year-round businesses in the Antigo area are doing a little extra for the holiday season.

They are Colleen’s Craft Shed, located between the Post Office and Fifth Avenue on Clermont Street. The other is the HH Auction and Event Center, operated by Susan Canales, located on Highway HH south of Highway G.

Colleen Gelhausen, who has been involved in crafting for decades, has opened a seasonal store at 517 Clermont St., with a big selection of true home crafts.

Colleen explained that the store has hand-sewn Raggedy Annies, primitives, seasonal items and her assortment of hand-poured all-natural soy wax candles and tarts.

We have coffee, too, she added.

The Craft Shed is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and during the week, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It then opens again at 4:30 p.m.

The other business, the HH Auction and Event Center, is holding a Christmas Open House on Sunday.

Susan Canales, who owns the business, invited everyone to visit the facility, which served as the communications center when the U.S. Air Force operated its 676th Squadron here, also located along Highway HH. The event center is at 3150 County Road HH.

Come join us to experience a festive atmosphere full of lighted trees, villages and surprises with friends and neighbors, Susan said.

There will be refreshments and door prizes and if you please, visit the full cash bar at the facility.

There also will be a package wrapping service available for a modest fee.

The auction and event center is a very clean and updated building that was part of the military base from the early 1950s into the late 1970s. It is available for special events, wedding showers, reunions, meetings and more.
