space
The Red Robin girls swim team capped off its 2017 campaign Thursday with a trip to Minocqua. It’s been a struggle for the ladies, simply limited by a small roster, but the effort in the pool can not be compared. In the end, Lakeland garnered a 113-55 win.

A true standout this season, Heather Arlen has consistently looked strong throughout the year in the 100 yard butterfly and this meet was no different, taking first by over six seconds.  Arlen edged out Thunderbirds Celeste Teichmiller with a time of 1:06.18 to 1:12.67.

She also swam a close race in the 50 free, and event she usually doesn't swim, taking second to Lakeland's Mariah Angove. Angove touched in 27.18 seconds to Arlen’s 27.30.

Greta Parsons continues to improve in both her 50 and 100 yard freestyle events.  In the 50, Parsons finished with a time of 35.45 while her 100 time was 1:21.03.

Being new to the sport of swimming, she has really come a long way this season, Antigo Coach Mary Ponasik added.

Evelyn Olsen was right on her fastest time of the season in the 500 yard freestyle.  She was in the lead up until the final 50 yards which made for an exciting race. Olsen was edged out by Amanda Kosmen 6:11.76 to 6:14.80.

With its regular season schedule officially over, Antigo has two weeks off to prep for its Great Northern Conference meet on Oct. 27 at Ladysmith.
