Will Dixon, Luke Berner sign letters of intent for post prep seasons

Making their own local splash on National Letter of Intent signing day, Red Robin football standouts Will Dixon and Luke Berner each penned their names to their letters of intent on Feb. 1.

Dixon will be playing at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. As a member of the Golden Bears, Dixon will be competing with a NCAA division two team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. He will make his 2017-18 debut wearing the gold and navy blue in Sea Foam Stadium.

Berner will trade in his maroon and white for Upper Iowa University’s Peacock’s blue and white. NCAA division two team, Berner will also compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The school is located in Fayette, Iowa.

Will Dixon

Dixon has achieved several athletic laurels during his career at Antigo High School.

Among them are his selection as second team All-Great Northern Conference running back this past season, when he helped lead the 2016 Robin football team to its second consecutive conference championship. The 5-7, 175-pounder finished fourth in league rushing with 517 yards and a 7.1 yards per carry average, scoring three touchdowns. He also participated on the 2015 Antigo conference champs.

Additionally, Dixon lead the conference in wrestling at 170 pounds, holding a 3-1 record and placed third in the conference meet at Antigo on Saturday. A pin and major decision are among his dual meet victories. Dixon was accorded second team all conference status last season (2015-16) 152 pounds. He also wrestled in the 170-pound division.

Dixon is also a member of the track team, finishing fifth in the 2016 GNC meet at 100 meters with a time of 12.0, as well as participating on the squad’s 4x400-meter relay team.

Luke Berner

Berner was also a member of the conference champion Robin teams during the past two seasons, and was named to the 2016 honorable mention squad at defensive back at which he finished tied for second in the league with three interceptions and also served as a receiving cog on the team.

He is currently a member of the Red Robin hockey team, a 6-0, 170-pounder. The squad is in first place in the conference with an 8-0 record and is 16-6 overall heading into Tuesday’s home contest with Mosinee game. Berner has played an important and versatile role at forward.
