Rhinelander hosts Lady Robins in night soccer game
space
The Antigo girls soccer team made a rare night appearance Tuesday as it traveled to Rhinelander. The evening was froth with challenges as the Lady Hodags posted the first goal in the second minute of the game and never looked back as it garnered the 8-0 win.

The girls did an outstanding job going up against a team with a great passing game, Antigo coach Bethany Bauknecht said. I applaud the girls for maintaining good communication and had their heads in the game and were able to hold Rhinelander.

The Robins midfield team was able to move the ball up the field, but unfortunatley was quickly shut down by the Hodags defense.

Antigo was able to get a few shots on goal as Marissa Hartman, Areonna Schreiber and Jillian Incha all saw good looks at the net.

By the time the mid game whistle blew, Rhinelander had posted a 4-0 lead.

In the final 45 minutes of play, the Lady Robins were able to fight off Rhinelander until the 62nd minute mark.

I’m proud of how Marissa, Emily (Wald), Lili (Wagner), and Maggie (Gallenberg) played powerhouse defense against some very aggressive attackers and once again, left everything they had on the field, Bauknecht added.

Rhinelander finished off the route with three more goals before the game came to an end.

Antigo goalie Annette Olsen had over 22 saves on the night.

The Robins have a few days rest before hosting Lakeland at 5 p.m. Friday at Listle Field.
