German festival set for music program Monday, with ethnic foods
space
It’s the climax of summer, but City Park will be transformed into an Oktoberfest setting for Music in the Park Monday.

Second Edition will be playing polkas and waltzes in a concert sponsored by the Antigo Lions Club, and the entire evening has been turned into a German festival to benefit the Antigo Area Community Food Pantry.

Lyndon Swartzendruber, president of the Antigo Lions Club and owner of Swartzendruber’s Supper Club, will prepare 50 servings of marinated Sauerbraten sweet and sour beef roast along with gingersnap gravy, German potato salad and beverage for a donation of $10 per plate to the food pantry.

In addition, Lions Club past president Dave Jorgensen, who own’s Peroutka’s Meat Processing, will serve up his homemade brats with German potato salad and a beverage for a donation of $5 to the food pantry.

Food pantry volunteers will be baking and serving homemade pies along with Culver’s frozen custard to top off the evening of old time music. The food pantry van will also be on site to accept food donations from anyone bringing food donations to the park.

Food will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. with music to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Lions Club volunteers will be displaying information on other projects supported in the Antigo area along with membership applications. Antigo Lions also support Salvation Army, Antigo school district backpack program and other activities.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert and special German menu will be moved to the Antigo High School commons.
