Pride downs the Comets 13-2 in softball playoff
space
In the first game of Antigo’s 12U softball league playoffs, the Pride took apart the Comets 13-2. For the Pride’s Lizzy Burkhart and Alayna Weix, it was just another cool, calm and collective day on the mound.

Burkhart dazzled spectators in her three innings pitched, allowing the Comets to accomplish just one hit and four walks that led to no eventual runs while striking out two batters. Weix worked two innings, impressing Pride fans with a strikeout and three walked batters while giving up three hits that only resulted in two scores.

Two runs would not be enough for the Comets to contend with the Pride’s 13-run day of production.  Alison Peters led the Pride going 3-4, while her teammate Lindsey Lightfoot was an ace at 2-2 including a double.

Karlie Mae Schultz was also 2-3 at the plate for the victorious Pride. With Kiana Lese garnering a triple, Ellie Preboski, Maddie Preboski and Weix each added a base hit.

Abby Robrecht and Riley McCann both found themselves on the wrong side of an unleashed Pride offensive animal. Robrecht allowed five runs on four hits in her three innings pitched, walking five and striking out four batters.

McCann, working two innings, allowed seven hits for eight runs while walking eight batters and striking out just one.

The minimalist batting presence of the Comets was highlighted by a home run from Erica Heinzen. Emma Brown, Abi Arrowood and Reanna Powell each recorded hits.
