Construction house from AHS on the market, public viewing set|
|An exceptionally built, three-bedroom home, with special financing available, is going on the block this weekend.|
The Antigo school district is holding an open house Friday and Saturday at the construction house built by high school students. Hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The house is located behind the high school just off Western Avenue. It was constructed on pilings so it can be easily moved to a location of the buyer’s choice.
“It is with great pleasure and pride that this year’s construction class presents this structure for an open house,” instructor Josh Krueger said. “The process the students went through during the construction of this house will undoubtedly help them in whatever future tasks they try to accomplish.”
The home was built by six Antigo High School seniors and three juniors over the course of the 2013-14 school year, under the direction of Krueger. They included Bailey Blodgett, Bryce Chrudimsky, Michael Fermanich, Garrett Grabowsky, Dylan Hunter, Gyler McDougal, Joshua Peschke, Jacob Reif and Matthew Tattersall.
“Preliminary courses gave the students the background knowledge needed to construct a house from start to finish,” Krueger said. “The quality of construction should indicate the desire and willingness of the students to do their best.”
Assistance was provided by Heinzen Plumbing & Heating, Jerry Thomae Electric Center, VanderKoy Bros. LLC, and Menards.
The one-story house measures 28 feet by 48 feet, with 2 inch by six inch studs on the exterior walls and 6 inch R19 insulation, double 4 inch vinyl siding and Kolbe & Kolbe low-E glass, double hung units with storm windows.
The home has oak trim and woodwork, and Schrock cabinets.
Minimum bid is $49,000. The buyer will be responsible for the cost of transporting the house to a new site, along with foundation, heating and sewer and water connections.
To sweeten the deal, CoVantage Credit Union is offering a mortgage loan special exclusively for the house, with rates as low as 3.375 percent, no closing costs, and a low down payment option.
Complete details on the home’s construction and the loan special will be available at the open house.
The Antigo High School construction class house will be the focus of an open house Friday and Saturday.
