New owners making changes to Sears store here, plan celebration|
|Changes are being made at the Antigo Sears store in the North Town Centre on Antigo’s north side.|
Long-time Hayward retailers Kerry and Angie Walters purchased the business earlier this year and are in the process of transforming the store.
During a visit to the store this week, the couple explained they have made improvements during the past several months with an upgraded decor, installation of new display shelving and changes in flooring.
They already operate a Sears Hometown store in Hayward, purchased another in Rhinelander and have beedn working on the Antigo acquisition.
The couple had a successful furniture business in Hayward in a building that also held a Sears Hometown unit.
That building was sold, and the couple moved the Sears unit and went shopping with the Antigo and Rhinelander stores as their targets.
Kerry explained that the Antigo operation will be a “store of the future,” with an emphasis on being customer friendly.
With the service center just inside the front door, the Walters concept is in effect. This week they were installing new display shelving and preparing to enhance the store’s stock.
“We already had an awesome lawn and garden department,” they said, with an eye on making an already successful store even better.
They said when they made the business purchase “we got a gift.”
“We got awesome employees,” they said, adding that they are on the “same page” as improvements are being planned and made.
A grand opening celebration is being planned during July.
