|Jeff Baehman earned honors as Antigo’s top dad in the Father of the Year contest sponsored by the Antigo/Langlade County Chamber of Commerce.|
Baehman was selected on the basis of a letter written by his son, Blake.
“Why my dad is the best: He is always there on my up and downs. I love him so much. He is one of those who never gets too upset. He helps me with my homework. He was the one who taught me how to shoot a gun, fish, and be quiet in a deer stand. You have no idea how much I love him. He is my one and only father. When I started to walk he would take me everywhere. We are close in relation. We have a good bond. He buys me stuff, but I am not spoiled one bit. He is the one I shot my first deer with, the one I caught my first fish with. He is helpful when I need help. When I am sick he helps me through it one step at a time; I love that. He would provide anything for sports or something helpful. He is such a loving person. He takes me bear hunting, deer hunting, and even turkey hunting and I love them all. “
Second place honors went to Barry Brownett, on the basis of a letter written by daughter, Madison Palok. It follows:
“I think my dad, Barry, is the best dad ever. I think that because he helps me with my homework, play-fights with me, and takes care of me the way I think every dad should treat his son or daughter. I love my dad for who he is. He might not do lots and lots of things with me but for the way he takes care of me, I love him for who he is.
I cannot even think of any other person that I would want to be my dad. Even though my dad Barry is my stepdad, he is the best stepdad in the entire world and I am so lucky, grateful, and glad that Barry is my dad.”
Both letters were in the kindergarten through grade five category.
