Typhoon shut out Clintonville 5-0

The Antigo American Legion Post 3 baseball team took on Clintonville Post 63 Tuesday at Kretz Park. With the return of several high school varsity players, the Typhoon was able to shutout its opponents 5-0.

Antigo got its offense going early in the bottom half of the first with an RBI single by Randy Krebs and a sacrifice fly from Bryce Chrudimsky to plate two runs in the inning. The Typhoon plated another pair of runs in the second with an RBI groundout by Jed Weix and Caleb Raddant scoring on a wild pitch.

Antigo added another run in the fourth as Max Nowinsky touched home on pass ball by the catcher.

For Antigo, Krebs went the distance on the mound, pitching the complete game shutout. Allowing five hits, he walked four and struck out 10.

For Clintonville, Nick Hogen took the loss allowing four runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out two in three innings. Parker Mindel allowed a run, with three walks and three strikeouts in two innings of relief while Nate Krueger gave up a hit and a walk in the sixth inning.

Offensively for Antigo, Rob Bastle and Erik Schielke finished with two singles each, with base hits from Krebs and Raddant and a double by Blake Below.

For Clintonville, Mindel led with a pair of singles, while Hogan, Jaden Doornik and Hunter Vollmer added singles of their own.

With the win, Coach Alex Heiny’s Antigo team improves to 2-0 on the season. The squad will host Tomahawk on Thursday.
