|The summer Music in the Park series will take a patriotic tilt on Thursday.|
After opening with jazz, followed by folk and then Dixieland on Monday, City Park will welcome Antigo’s own Of Chorus! along with representatives of the Antigo Elks Lodge, which will coordinate traditional Flag Day observances.
American Legion Post No. 3 Commander Ken Szitta recently presented Barb Lehrer, who coordinates prizes for the summertime events, with a U.S. flag that will be raffled off during the evening.
Szitta said he is proud to represent the American Legion and hopes the flag will fly proudly over the home of the raffle winner. He and the American Legion are on a mission to see the U.S. flag fly over all public facilities and many homes to remind children and grandchildren of all citizens of the sacrifices made by veterans.
Pies and frozen custard will be served by the Knights of Columbus.
Lehrer said that local businesses and groups are donating prizes for every concert. Sign-ups are available during every concert at the music donation box.
Music continues Monday with the Grudgeville Grass, sponsored by Amron Corporation, with United Methodist Church serving barbecues and chili dog plates, pies and root beer floats.
On Thursday, June 19, Skip Jones will take to the stage for a youth-oriented concert at 5:30 p.m., along with Kids Art in the Park beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Antigo Optimist Club is the sponsor and will be serving cheese curds. Living Waters International will be selling pies.
In the back row, Barb Lehrer, Music in the Park free-will offering prize co-chair accepts a U.S. flag from Ken Szitta, commander of American Legion Post No. 3 that will be raffled Thursday during the Of Chorus! concert and Elks Flag Day ceremonies in the park.
