State bid just not found on the course for Charger golfers

Two Chargers represented Wittenberg-Birnamwood Tuesday as individuals at the WIAA Division 3 Sectional Golf Meet at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour. Both Brant Linke and Kyle Adamski finished their seasons on the cusp of state play to the pride of Coach Chris Bartletti.

“I am proud of them for making it this far. To their credit, they both ground it out even when they knew that moving on was no longer in the picture,” Coach Bartletti said.

Bartletti later noted the course play and weather, “Both Brant and Kyle started out well with pars on the first hole, but as the round went on the wind and the course got the better of them.”

Linke finished tied for 60th place in a field of 72 participating golfers. Linke, a senior competing in the last high school meet of his career, finished his season with a round of 99 strokes.

Bartletti said of his graduate golfer, “Brant has worked hard on his game to get to the level of play he is at and fought this entire season with a back injury.”

Adamski, returning next season as a junior, completed his round at 106. Chris Colla of the Winnebago Lutheran Academy was the top finisher Tuesday in Seymour with a round of 75.

“Kyle is only a sophomore with a great deal of potential and hopefully will get this opportunity again,” his coach said, proudly.
