Honor Society ceremony showcases AHS's best, brightest

Members of the Antigo High School National Honor Society reviewed the cornerstones of scholarships, leadership, character and service and included more than a dozen new members in ceremonies Wednesday night at the Edison Club Event Center.

Outgoing president Joseph Reineke served as the master of ceremonies and led the National Honor Society pledge. Reviewing the cornerstones were Steph Hanke, treasurer, scholarship; Logan Wanca, parliamentarian, leadership; Alex Falk, reporter, character; and Chase Gunderson, secretary, service. Natasha Voytovich is the organizationís vice-president.

The new officers announced for 2014-15 are Andy Blink, president; Collin Theix, vice-president; Jamie Spychalla, secretary; Ellie Payant, treasurer; William Schmidt, parliamentarian; and Taylor Pomasl, reporter. They were installed by advisor Aimee Hein.

Graduating members of the National Honor Society each received an honor cord from Hein, who reviewed the memberís college plans and intended major. They include:

Kendall Nagel, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for physical therapy, Cassius Noskowiak, University of Wisconsin-Madison for accounting, Maggie McCann, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for physicianís assistant, Danae Draeger, Bethel University for bio-kinetics, Katelyn Kondzela, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for elementary education.

Daniel Bradley, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for bio-chemistry, Summer Selden, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for elementary education, MacKenzie Parise, Bethel University for nursing, Mikayla Nelson, University of Marathon County to Bellin University for nursing, Breanna Brennecke, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for kinesiology ka-knee-siology.

Alexandra Falk, University of Wisconsin-Madison for biology, Steph Hanke, University of Wisconsin-Madison for mechanical engineering, Natasha Voytovich, University of Wisconsin-Madison for biology, Brittney Wald, Carroll University for exercise science, Abigail Littlejohn, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is undecided.

Morgan Burkhart, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for biological sciences, Ashlee Neve, Northcentral Technical College for marketing, Logan Wanca, University of Madison for physics, Joseph Reineke, Concordia University -Chicago for pre-seminary, Chase Gunderson, Nicolet Bible Institute.

Colin Bastle, University of Wisconsin-Madison for biology, Jordan Weber, The Glory House Miracle Center Apprenticeship Program for ministry training, Brian Bartletti, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for athletic training, Gerald Sakamaki, University of Wisconsin-Duluth for pre-med, Cadence Brunzlick, University of Wisconsin-Duluth for pre-optometry.

Chelsea Payant, Marquette University for business, Brianne Ackley, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for English/creative writing, Blake Kirsch, University of Sioux Falls is undeclared, Jacob Zabrowski, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is undeclared, Sarah Doucette, Concordia University of Wisconsin for pharmacy.

The newly-inducted members were presented with a pin and certificate by advisor Mike Blood. They include:

Live entertainment was provided by the AHS Flute Choir (Cadence Brunzlick, Jordan Weber, Karlee Kimberling, Grace Tews, Jennifer Fischer, Courtney Johnson, Hunter Nicholson, Maddison Delembach); a vocal duet by Emma Hale and Maggie Cochrane, a sax quartet (Joe Reineke, Haley Hill, Sadie Fleischman and Hayden Groot) and a vocal solo by Daniel Bradley.
