Boldig re-elected board president

Arriving faces complimented departing members Tuesday as the Antigo board of education hosted its first meeting with the four new board members elected earlier this month.

Congratulations on past accomplishments were passed on to the vacating members while the election of new board positions was undertaken.

Former members Beth Bockes, Joseph Kretz and Clark Palmer were honored by students from West Elementary School with cards and salutations commending their past service to the Antigo school district. Palmer, while receiving recognition, was unable to attend the meeting.

Jeanne Long, Tara Fermanich-Guelzow, Scott Jensema and Dr. Patrick McKenna were sworn into their board member responsibilities and were officially seated.

Dr. Donald Childs, interim administrator, presided over the election process of new board positions as chair pro temp. Mike Boldig unanimously retained his title of board president in the first nomination and election of the evening.

Also retaining her previous position, Jessica Meade was named board clerk. Vice presidency of the school board was claimed by Jensema, over Tim Fuller.

The duties of board treasurer were claimed by Dr. McKenna, with Fuller and Long having also been nominated.

Fermanich-Guelzow will represent the district at the CESA (Cooperative Educational Service Agency) annual convention in August in Tomahawk, focusing on co-op budgeting and district finance. Long was elected primary delegate to the 2015 Wisconsin Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly.

In relatively brief, closing business, the Antigo Daily Journal was retained as the official publication of the school board minutes. The use of electronic signatures for board member authentication was also authorized uncontested.
