Kindred tells sale of Eastview facility
space
Kindred Healthcare has made a strategic decision not to renew the operating leases for some of its nursing centers, including Kindred Transitional Care & Rehab-Eastview.

Wanda Hose, the facility’s executive director, said that the long-standing health care facility will be transitioning to a new operator, MGM Healthcare, in the next 60 days with a goal of completing the transition by June, 2014.

“This is a business decision and has no impact on the day to day care we provide our residents,” Hose said. “The same employees will be taking care of the residents. We look forward to continuing to serve the area.”

Hose said that the actual date of the transfer is subject to licensing approvals.

“Our goal is to have a smooth transition to a new operator for the benefit of our employees, residents and family members,” Hose said. “Until the transition takes place, nothing changes.”

Last fall, Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare Inc., announced that it was ending lease agreements for 60 nursing centers around the country. The lease agreements, which were set to expire in 2015, will now end on Sept. 30, 2014. The nursing centers have more than 7,000 licensed beds and generated $540 million in revenue for the company in 2012.

Kindred Healthcare Inc. has yearly revenue of about $6 billion and runs 169 nursing centers. It provides health care services in 2,167 locations.

MGM owns and operates nursing homes mainly in the Midwest. Corporate office is located in St. Louis, Mo. with facilities currently in Missouri, Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma and Upstate New York.

The facility was constructed as Superior Nursing Home. It underwent a series of expansions and additions in the 1960s and 1970s and was known for many years as Eastview Manor.
