Antigo Area Weekend Activities|
Vintage snowmobile racing, a great musical lineup and a chance to enjoy some great dining will mark the final few days of February in Langlade County.
A look at events, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal’s advertising columns, follows:
Vintage snowmobiles—the great old and sizzling fast sleds so many northwoods residents grew up piloting—come to the Langlade County Fairgrounds for a weekend of action.
Wide Open Promotions and Brickners of Antigo will present the 2014 pro-vintage racing series Saturday and Sunday, with racing starting at 10 a.m. both days.
Food and drinks will be provided by the Antigo Elks Lodge and Antigo Area Youth Hockey Association.
The schedule includes a full day of vintage action on Saturday with a mix of vintage and modern sleds taking to the half-mile iced oval on Sunday.
There will also be snowmobile displays on the grounds.
Daily admission is $15, with a weekend pass available for $20. Children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Sponsors include Advantage Group Insurance, Wagner Shell, Antigo Yamaha, Swiderski Equipment, Fuller Sales & Service and Wayde Insurance.
Hip Pocket will be rockin’ the house at The Bar, located in the Cedar Creek Mall in Rothschild, tonight. Music runs from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The Veterans of America Motorcycle Club will hold its winter bash on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at Bad Habit Bar in Neva. There will be special beer prices, raffles, food and music by Led West starting at 8 p.m.
A cancer benefit for Leo Zagar will be held Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m. at Lil’ Hummer’s Hideaway Bar/Grill & Campground at the corner of Highways A and TT.
There will be live music, food, raffles and a silent auction.
Raffle prices will include $1,000, a chest freezer filled with beef and pork and a 50-inch flat screen television.
Try something different and head out to Lil’ Hummer’s Hideaway Bar/Grill & Campground at the corner of Highways A and TT. Clip the coupon from Thursday’s Antigo Daily Journal and enjoy all-you-can-eat walleye for $12.75 on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Vickie and the Vets will be serving ribs tonight.
Elcho United Church of Christ Men’s Club will host the 16th annual Pastor Jack’s Wild Game Feed on Thursday at the Jack LaMar Pavilion in Elcho. Social hour starts at 4 p.m. with dinner at 5 p.m. A wide assortment of wild game, fish and fowl will be served. There will also be door prizes, bucket raffles and a gun board drawing.
St. Joseph Holy Family Parish in Phlox will serve its annual oven roasted chicken and ham dinner on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parish hall. The menu will include roasted chicken, ham, baby reds, corn, coleslaw, buns, pie, beverage and Culver’s famous custard. There will also be bucket raffles.
The Edison Club Event Center is now offering Friday night fish frys. Serving begins at 4 p.m.
Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “Monuments Men,” rated PG-13, and “Lego Movie,” rated PG.
Screenings are Sundays through Thursdays at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and 9 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1:30 p.m.
Come on out to the Sheldon Fieldhouse tonight for the Antigo versus Lakeland basketball game. It’s senior night and the Antigo Boys Basketball Center Court Club is urging everyone to support the seniors in their last regular season home game.
Farmer’s Home Restaurant will host its sixth annual Terry “Hubie” Hubatch Memorial Doubles Cribbage Tournament on Sunday. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. with play at 2 p.m. Stop in and sign up or call 715-623-7332. Pre-registration is required.
North Central Sales Auctions LLC will hold an auction Sunday at 11 a.m. at Homestead Bar and Banquet Hall, 8507 Hwy. 52, Wausau. Sporting goods, toys, antiques, collectibles, household items and more will be sold.
The Langlade County Historical Society Museum and AVA Gallery are currently operating on winter hours. Visitors are welcomed Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Making Magic” is on view through April 6 at the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau. There is no admission charge. The museum is open daily except Mondays.
McDougal’s Farm LLC will present guest speaker Wendy Fassbender on Saturday, 4 to 6 p.m. in the greenhouse. Her presentation will focus on connecting whole food to whole health. Cost is $12. The greenhouse is located at W10835 Bluebell Rd., Deerbrook. Call 715-627-4418 for seating.
Langlade County Alliance for Retired Americans will present a movie screening, “We’re Not Broke,” Saturday at 1:15 p.m. at the Antigo Public Library. All are welcome. There will be refreshments and snacks. The focus will be on income inequity, tax-law loopholes and how to take action.
Care Partners Assisted Living, 1417 10th Ave., will hold an open house on Wednesday, noon to 6 p.m. There will be tours, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and a chance to meet the staff. There will be a ribbon-cutting at 3 p.m.
The Antigo school district will hold four-and-five-year-old kindergarten screening Thursday, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at the Middle School. Call Jan at 715-627-4355 for questions.
