|Doctors Meghan and Tim O’Brien are helping parents to “give kids a smile” on Friday.|
The O’Briens who operate Antigo Dental Clinic at 707 Sixth Ave., are once again participating in the Give Kids A Smile children dental access program.
The clinic is teaming up with the Wisconsin and American Dental Associations to provide free exams, cleaning, fluoride and education to children ages three to 12.
Space is limited but there still are a few openings, the OBriens said. Call 715 627-4391 and mention Give Kids A Smile Day to make an appointment.
The American Dental Association began the Give Kids A Smile program in 2003 as a way for dentists to join with others in the community to provide dental services to underserved children.
The program initially began as a one-day event in February, but has since grown to local and national events year-round. Dentists and other team members volunteer their time, and services, to provide screenings, treatments and education to children throughout the United States.
This year, 1,530 events are planned across the nation, with 9,112 participating dentists and 28,382 other volunteers. An estimated 346,947 children will be served across the nation.
Dr. Timothy O'Brien, Ruby, Liam, Mya and Elsy Burt, and Dr. Meghan O'Brien are ready for Friday’s Give Kids A Smile Day. The youngsters are Dr. Meghan O’Brien’s children and have been the models for the free dental clinic for years.
