Brian Mattmiller bowls another 300 game, finishes night with big 825 series
space
Evidently Brian Mattmiller’s night-opening, near-perfect 299 game was only practice Thursday. He hit the error-free 300 two games later.

Easily Antigo’s frontrunner on the local bowling scene, Mattmiller exploded for the high marks during competition in the Dirty Dozen league at North Star Lanes.

The 300 was his third locally this season and even more impressive, 18th of his career. Combined with the 299 single and a follow-up 226, he finished with an 825 series — his third 800-plus triple of the 2013-14 campaign. He bowled the other two last month — an area high 826 on Jan. 9 and an 816 on Jan. 16.

Only Mark Ringel, a fellow Dirty Dozen league bowler, has also hit an 800 series this season.

Dennis Seis paced the night’s 600 series crowd with his 697 triple. Beginning with a 183, he finished strong with a 258 and a 253 to take runnerup honors.

Steve McFarlane claimed the number three spot at 693. His best game, a solid 277, followed marks of 225 and 191.

Others breaking into the 600s were Steve Burkhart, 660 with a high 255 game; Bill McFarlane, 653 (257); Chris Held, 648 (235); Dan Rekowski 645 (246); Ringel, 636 (246); and Ron Michels, 633 (233).

Rounding out the top were Steve Suick, 628 (236); John VanOoyen, 626 (247); Chip Dallen, 622 (231); Jim Hohensee, 621 (232); Lyle Tackett, 621 (212); Jim Jones, 619 (222); Eugene Peters, 618 (243); Bill Page, 618 (231); Shane Gollnick, 618 (214); Jack Filbrandt, 616 (217); and Greg Pizl Sr., 615 (225).
