First Baby race nearly here, '13 winner well|
|As little Camron prepares to celebrate his first birthday, it’s time once again for the Journal’s annual “Baby Watch,” a most delightful contest.|
When the clock strikes midnight tonight, the crew in the birthing center at Langlade Hospital will be preparing for the first baby of 2014, and that lucky newborn and parents will be the recipient of hundreds of dollars worth of gift certificates and products from Antigo Daily Journal advertisers.
Some years the contest ends quickly, but other years it takes a bit longer. This year, Camron Daniel Lockwood waited just 17 hours and eight minutes, making an unexpected, early arrival for parents Annie and Dan Lockwood of rural Antigo.
Today, a day shy of a year old, Camron is an exuberant, happy young man, ready to relinquish his title.
Rules are simple and unchanged from prior years, The winning baby must be born at Langlade Hospital, to married parents who are current residents of the area. The exact time of birth must be certified by the attending physician. In the event of a tie—something that has never happened—awards will be divided equally.
