New Year's Eve night spots ready for fun|
|The new year is expected to ring in on a very cold note, but that won’t stop the hot action Tuesday evening on area restaurants and night spots.|
Temperatures during the day on Tuesday may nudge zero—may—and will plunge to 20 below or worse during the overnight hours, making it a perfect time to stay inside with family and friends, or to use the opportunity to make some new ones.
A look at New Year’s Eve happenings, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal advertising columns, follows:
North Star Mohican Casino-Resort at Bowler is planning a huge New Year’s Eve bash. A poker tournament starts at noon with a complimentary buffet from 3 to 5 p.m. The Longhouse New Year’s Eve buffet will be served from 4 to 11 p.m., featuring lobster, prime rib, pan fried walleye, blackened salmon, pit ham and more. In The Groove, an hors d’oeuvres buffet is slated from 4 to 9 p.m. with wings, pizza, sliders, wonton shrimp tacos, lobsters and crab puffs and more. Johnny Wad will be performing variety music in the bingo hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Led West will be playing in The Groove from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will also be party favors, champagne and a balloon drop.
Potawatomi Casino-Hotel at Carter plans a New Year’s Eve buffet in The Springs Restaurant and Lounge. The menu will include chef-carved New York strip, bourbon glazed pit ham, Henny Penny chicken, barbecued ribs, fried or boiled shrimp, clam casino and mussels along with vegetables, soups, twice-baked potatoes, salad and pasta bar and soft serve ice cream. Do the entire New Year’s Eve bash with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. and music from 4 to 7 p.m., including party favors, free beer, drawings and bingo for $50 each. Entertainment will include Lovin’ Country playing in the hotel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fifth Gear from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. On Saturday, Jan. 4., celebrate the birth of the King of Rock and Roll with Tony Rocker playing from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Edison Club Event Center, Antigo’s home for food and fun. The buffet, served from 5 to 9 p.m., will include prime rib, pork loin, baked chicken, shrimp, mashed potatoes, baby reds, veggies, loaded salad bar and dessert for $19.95 per person. Reservations are appreciated but not required. Music starts at 10 p.m. with Marshal Reign. There’s no admission charge and there will be free champagne, party favors and hors d’oeuvres at midnight.
Ring in the new year at Swartzendruber’s Supper Club. Specials will include crab legs, shrimp, barbecued ribs and other favorites. The menu will also include steaks, prime rib, surf and turf for two and seafood trio. Reservations are accepted by calling 715 627-7027.
Buckshots in Bryant plans a variety of Tuesday night specials. Choose from lobster, prime rib, barbecued ribs, shrimp scampi, chicken, rib eye or surf and turf. Make reservations now by calling 715 623-1100.
Koni K’s Korner Pub in Elcho will feature live music with River Rat Run starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Sing karaoke with Greg and T.J. Tuesday night at Rockin’ Robin’s Old Mill in Phlox. Music starts at 9 p.m. There will be a champagne toast at midnight.
Melody Mill in Aniwa will be serving prime rib plus the full menu on Tuesday. The jukebook will also be free.
Visit the Refuge on New Year’s Eve. Specialties will include prime rib, grilled shrimp, sizzling steaks, surf and turf, signature pastas and specialty salads. The lounge has 10 beers on tap, the best selection in town. Reservations are accepted and can be made by calling 715-623-2249.
Wolff’s River Inn, Post Lake, is the place to be for New Year’s Eve. In addition to the full menu, the restaurant will be serving lobster and steak, prime rib and lobster.
Heartbreakers will offer two nights to toast to the new year, with dining specials offered by Saturday and Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.
The Dixie Lunch will serve a six ounce rib eye and shrimp combo special on Tuesday, 5 to 9 p.m. It will include soup or salad and choice of potato.
Stop down at Boettcher’s Bar on New Year’s Eve for two for one drink specials. There will be hats, horns, lunch and champagne.
Fifth Avenue Restaurant and Lounge invited patrons to ring in the new year in downtown Antigo. Specials, served from 4 to 10 p.m., will include Angus prime rib with sautéed mushrooms, tenderloin Oscar, chicken Oscar, or Texas gulf shrimp, all featuring Gus’ homemade twice-baked potatoes and salad bar. Dessert specials include chocolate lava cake with raspberry sauce or creme brulee with strawberries.
