New Year's Eve night spots ready for fun
space
The new year is expected to ring in on a very cold note, but that won’t stop the hot action Tuesday evening on area restaurants and night spots.

Temperatures during the day on Tuesday may nudge zero—may—and will plunge to 20 below or worse during the overnight hours, making it a perfect time to stay inside with family and friends, or to use the opportunity to make some new ones.

A look at New Year’s Eve happenings, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal advertising columns, follows:

North Star Mohican Casino-Resort at Bowler is planning a huge New Year’s Eve bash. A poker tournament starts at noon with a complimentary buffet from 3 to 5 p.m. The Longhouse New Year’s Eve buffet will be served from 4 to 11 p.m., featuring lobster, prime rib, pan fried walleye, blackened salmon, pit ham and more. In The Groove, an hors d’oeuvres buffet is slated from 4 to 9 p.m. with wings, pizza, sliders, wonton shrimp tacos, lobsters and crab puffs and more. Johnny Wad will be performing variety music in the bingo hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Led West will be playing in The Groove from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will also be party favors, champagne and a balloon drop.

Potawatomi Casino-Hotel at Carter plans a New Year’s Eve buffet in The Springs Restaurant and Lounge. The menu will include chef-carved New York strip, bourbon glazed pit ham, Henny Penny chicken, barbecued ribs, fried or boiled shrimp, clam casino and mussels along with vegetables, soups, twice-baked potatoes, salad and pasta bar and soft serve ice cream. Do the entire New Year’s Eve bash with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. and music from 4 to 7 p.m., including party favors, free beer, drawings and bingo for $50 each.
