Witt-Birn matmen blank Tri-County 84-0
space
Facing a very young and inexperienced wrestling team Thursday, the older and wiser Wittenberg-Birnamwood squad handed out a decisive 84-0 defeat over Tri-County.

“Tri-County is a very young team and we are peaking, so it was kind of a mismatch for them,” Charger coach Troy Ostrowski said. “I see that they are improving with their numbers, and I wish them the best of luck with their season.”

Earning easy points with seven forfeits, Stetson Potrykus at 106 pounds, Zach Urquhart at 113, Bobby Uttecht at 132, Alex Shultz at 138, Griffin Magee at 152, Alex Peplinski at 170, and Hunter Kreger at 182, barely needed to warm up.

Sent to the mat with matches, the dual was a quick one as seven Wittenberg-Birnamwood grapplers all handed out pins.

Starting off at 120 pounds, Ben Vosters dropped Eric Buecher at the 1:35 mark, the longest match of the night. At 126, Gavin Czerwonka  defeated Tyler Kramer at 1:13.

Toying with Mason Boggs at 145 pounds, Witt-Birn’s Breden Randall earned his pin in 40 seconds. At 160, Braxton Potrykus handed out his pin in 36 seconds to Dylan Nigh.

Taking the least amount of time on the mat, August Peplinski, 195, dropped Jacob Galleske in 27 seconds. At 220, Nick Stringfellow took 44 seconds to pin Kevin Garlow, while heavyweight, Mason Enjaian defeated Andy Simmons within 29 seconds.

The Chargers travel to the Shawano Invitational Saturday with matches beginning at 10 a.m.
