Snow light, but some county trails opening
space
Thursday evening’s dusting of snow was an early Christmas present to area snowmobile enthusiasts.

Tammy Kubiaczyk, recreation coordinator for Langlade County, said this morning that Section A of the snowmobile trails in Langlade County will open at 5 p.m., but there will be some restrictions due to rather sparse snow in some areas.

Trails south of Highway J from the Lincoln County Line to Highway 45 will remain closed, with the exception of the trail from intersection 42A to the intersection at Highway C, H and I.

Also, trails south of Highway V from Highway 45, to Highway I, to Highway 52, along with trails west of Hill Road and west of Polar Road south of Polar, will be closed due to lack of adequate snow cover.

“Trails south and west of these areas are considered unsafe and riders are warned to stay off these trails,” Kubiaczyk said. “Anyone riding on closed trails will be prosecuted.”

Trail conditions in the wooded northern and eastern parts of the county will be in fair to good condition. Trails in open fields and across lakes may be drifted and also lacking in snow cover.

“Please use extreme caution in these areas,” Kubiaczyk said.

All terrain-vehicles are not allowed on these snowmobile trails until Dec. 30, and when the temperature is greater than 28° F.

Most northern counties have opened all or parts o their snowmobile trail systems, with fair to good conditions reported. More snow would certainly help.
