Upbeat presentations mark opening of December County Board meeting
space
The Langlade County Board of Supervisors settled into the very comfortable conference room this morning at the Wood Technology Center at the Northcentral Technical College campus here.

The December session of the supervisors had a relatively non-controversial agenda, but two interesting presentations opened the meeting.

In the first, Claudia Baker, representing the Lumberjack RC&D Council, made a presentation to the entire board for its drive, funds and work developing the wood technology facility with Northcentral Technical College.

She explained the role of the Lumberjack program which dates to 1962, designed to help the rural agenda in Wisconsin.

“We are involved in a lot of different programs,” she said, noting that in a county and region with rich forest and timber assets the technology center deserves to be honored for its efforts.

Dave Solin, chairman of the county board, called all supervisors to take part in the presentation, saying all of the members were responsible for the successful collaboration with the technical college.

The second presentation was made by Chris Berry, the director for economic development in Langlade County.

Berry, whose office is located in the wood technology building, explained it has been a very busy year on the part of the city of Antigo, Langlade County, government agencies and her two-person office.

She noted successes with Volm Companies, which made significant investments in its facilities in Antigo, and Sartori, which will be spending millions of dollars in its Antigo and Plymouth plants, much of it in this community.

Following the presentations by Baker and Berry, the board moved on to the agenda which included funding for the purchase of a huge tract of forest land in northeastern Langlade County, several zoning resolutions and other traditional governmental activities.
