Lady Chargers dominate match in 3-0 victory

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood volleyball team Tuesday provided additional proof for its top ranking in the Central Wisconsin-Eight Conference.

Spreading 35 kills across four players, the Lady Chargers pummeled host Iola-Scandinavia in three straight games.

“We were on fire tonight and completely dominated the match,” coach Chris Nier said. “This was our most fundamentally sound game from passing and setting to hitting and communicating.”

Firing on all cylinders, Witt-Birn downed the Thun derbirds 25-11 in the first set and then duplicated the score in the next two games to claim the win — its seventh straight in league play.

Micah Nier played strong all around, leading the team in kills with 12. She also had seven digs.

Taylor Bushman had nine kills and nine digs while Taylor Nier had eight kills and nine digs. Hannah Buntrock added to the team’s net power with six kills.

Madison Bushman collected 33 assists.

Witt-Birn will play host to the CWC tourney Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
