Celtic music back at park tonight when singer, fiddler present Irish entertainment
space
Celtic music returns to the City Park bandstand for the second time in four days as a part of a special “theme” week being presented by Music in the Park.

On Monday, McGinnis Kitchen got rained out of the park and into the Antigo High School commons, where an excellent crowd enjoyed an evening of lively music by the kilt-drapped performers.

Tonight the Dr. John and Elsa McKenna family promises that “your Irish eyes will be smiling” when Irish folk singer Pat Gaughan, with fiddler Nancy Maio, comes to the bandstand.

Music starts at 6:30 p.m. with the picnic at 5:30 p.m.

Gaughan is a vocalist/guitarist who performs original material ranging from lyrical ballads to acoustic rock flavored songs. She plays traditional folk and blues as well as Irish songs and tunes.

Gaughan has performed at many traditional Irish festivals, folk festivals, clubs, colleges and other venues. Her album, "Road Less Traveled," of original material has received airplay throughout the United States on public radio stations.

Maio is an outstanding violinist, capable, reliable, and adaptable to stylistic interpretation and direction.

The family is also sponsoring the Music in the Park picnic, featuring barbecued chicken breast from free-range chicken, Boston baked beans, fresh green salad and “Irish” potato chips.

A free-will offering will be accepted with proceeds split between the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center for a new air ventilation system and the Penguin swim club.

In case of rain, the concert will be at the high school commons.
