Brewers take Little League Majors title before rain falls
space
What started out as a defensive battle on the mound ended with a Brewers offensive barrage as the CoVantage squad defeated The Shoppers Cardinals 16-4 Wednesday for the 2013 Little League Major Division title.

CJ Levis started the night off at the hill for the Brewers as he induced three strait ground outs from Cardinals Bryson Bernarde, Nevin Cornelius and Nick Marshall. Logan Doering’s pitch was grounded out by Chris Krueger in the bottom of the first inning as he then struck out Brennen Spencer and Cody Urban.

Spencer took the mound for the Brewers in the second as he denied the Cardinals a chance to muster up much, leaving Trenton Hubatch on base as the only runner with a walk.

The Brewers started the game scoring in the second inning with eight runs. Levis was hit by a pitch followed by walks to Alex Fritsch and Ben Stimac. Brett Farmer sent a smash to right field to clear the bases with a stand up triple.

Jaren Meinert brought Farmer in with a single to left field. Chris Krueger brought Meinert in with a single to center. Brennen Spencer walked and Cody Urban was hit by a pitch. Levis hit a double to right clearing the bases once again.

The Cardinals responded with four runs in the third with a walk to Brennen Anderson followed by Issac Wickersheim double, Caleb Jaje walked and Nevin Cornelius and Nick Marshall each hit singles to conclude the third inning scoring.

Neither team scored in the fourth.

The Brewers once again went on an eight run terror to secure the win in the fifth inning. Spencer and Urban were both hit by a pitch. Followed by walks to Levis, Fritsch, Stimac, Farmer and Meinert. A wild pitch hit Hoffman followed by a double off Urban’s bat.

The game ended at this point as the lightning and rain moved in forcing the Majors’ boys to grab their trophies and run to their cars to escape the weather.

Monday the Brewers earned its way to the title contest by defeating Neve’s Orioles 6-5 while the Cardinals topped the Waukesha Bearings Braves 3-1.
