Antigo's 12U Stallions team off to a good start in baseball competition|
Memorial Day weekend was a successful one for Antigo’s 12U Stallions teams the squad took first place at the Rhinelander Tournament.
The Stallions took over Game 1 of the tournament scoring seven runs in the first three innings while adding five more for a 12-2 victory over Mosinee.
C.J. Levis led the Antigo attack with three singles and a double. Nick Marshall added four singles while Noah Orgeman added two hits. Others recording hits were, Cody Urban, Korbin Krueger, Eric Langseth, Brennen Spencer, Logan Doering and Trenton Hubatch.
Marshall, Urban and Orgeman combined for the Stallions win.
In Game 2 Antigo picked up an extra inning 6-5 win versus Greenville.
Levis and Urban led the hitting with a single and a home run apiece.
Marshall added a double with Krueger adding a single. He also knocked in Urban with the winning run.
Doering, Noskowiak and Urban combined for 11 strike outs to secure the win.
Taking on Merrill in the Championship round, Antigo left the tournament with the hardware and a 3-2 win.
Leading hitters were Levis with a home run and a single, and Urban with a pair of doubles. Noskowiak and Krueger each hit one a piece.
Held, Noskowiak and Urban commanded the mound while Doering’s defensive effort at third base secured the win.
Early season action
Heading to Peshtigo May 4 and 5, the Antigo Stallion squad took third going 3-1.
The 12’s started out slow in its first game by losing to Escanaba 9-2. Orgeman had the only hit for the Stallions.
In Game 2 the Stallion bats came alive by scoring a 13-2 victory over Angelis.
Leading hitters Urban, Krueger and Nevin Cornelius all recorded two hits apiece. Other having hits were Marshall, Tischendorf, Hubatch and Noskowiak with Orgeman adding a triple.
Marshall, Noskowiak and Orgeman took the mound for Antigo.
The Stallions scored a 5-4 victory over Badger C.U. in Game 3 of the tournament. Leading hitters were Urban, two singles, Cornelius, double and single, Krueger, single and Marshall, home run.
Orgeman, Tischendorf and Doering shared pitching duties striking out 11 batters.
In its final contest of the weekend, the Antigo bats came alive with a 25-1 win in a rematch with Badger C.U. Urban notched a double while Marshall hit two singles and a double with Krueger adding a home run.
Krueger, Hubatch, Tischendorf and Marshall shared the duties by giving up a hit, a run while striking out four.
