May 1, 2013

Over 30 people face charges ranging from drug trafficking to making death threats to informants in conjunction with a wide-ranging investigation centered in Forest County.

On Tuesday, the Forest County Sheriff’s Department released the names and some photographs of those charged in connection with a seven-month-long drug investigation into the sale and use of prescription drugs and marijuana.

The Forest County department was assisted in the investigation by law enforcement agencies from across the region, including Langlade County officers.

Eight suspects have currently been charged, with most expected to return to court in mid-May or early June for their adjourned initial appearances. All have posted bond and been released from custody.

Of the eight, Tonya Malone, 35, faces the most serious charges—31 felony counts including maintaining a drug trafficking place. Patrick Malone, 37, is also charged with maintaining a drug house along with 18 other counts. Both are free on $12,000 cash bonds. In addition, Timothy Stecker, 49, faces 16 charges. They are due back in court May 15.

A total of 37 people, including two juveniles, are currently under arrest.

“The extensive investigation is still continuing with more arrests anticipated,” Sheriff John Dennee said in a press release. “The Forest County Sheriff’s Office, like several law enforcement agencies across the nation, feels very strongly about combating the ever-growing prescription drug use and abuse problem.
