Dec. 21, 2009

An Antigo High School senior remains hospitalized but is expected to recover from serious injuries suffered in an auto accident Sunday morning east of Antigo.

Kyle L. Andraschko, 18, of Bryant was hurt in the crash and is listed in stable condition at Langlade Hospital.

Sources said Andraschko was driving his 1999 Dodge Neon to work shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday when the accident occurred.

According to the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department, Timothy R. Bowen, 48, of Bryant was driving his 2005 GMC pickup truck west on Price Polar Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign.

Andraschko was traveling south on Polar Road and the two vehicles collided. Impact was great and sent both vehicles into the ditch, doing substantial damage to the front end of the pickup truck and the driver’s side of the Andraschko auto.

Officials said the airbags of both vehicles were activated in the crash.

Bowen was not hurt but Andraschko, who had been wearing a seat belt, was trapped. He was extricated from the vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Langlade Hospital.

Officials said there were no skid marks evident at the scene.
