AHS band opens school holiday concerts schedule Monday evening Dec. 5, 2009 The Antigo High School band will kick off school district’s holiday concert season Monday.
The band will perform the sounds of the season at 7:30 p.m. in the Volm Theater. Admission is $2.50.
The concert, the first among schools, will come on the heels of the Antigo Community Band and Of Chorus performance Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Volm Theater. Admission to that afternoon of music is by donation.
On Monday, the Wind Ensemble will open the evening with “Christmas Concert March” followed by Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire.”
The ensemble will continue with “Christmas Fancies”. “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby” featuring Tom Hall and conclude with “Santa.”
Following an intermission with refreshments, the second half of the evening will open with the Symphonic Band and “Fantasia on a Hymn by Praetorius” and the well-known melodies of “Suite from the Nutcracker.”
Megan Rekowski will trade her flute for a microphone and serve as narrator for “Three Christmas Miniatures” followed by “Christmas Jazz Suite.”
The evening will conclude with “Santa’s Parade” featuring the Antigo High School drumline and the color guard.
The Antigo school district will continue its holiday concert schedule on Sunday, Dec. 13 with the choir performing at 2 p.m. in the Volm Theater.
Elementary programs will begin on Monday, Dec. 14 with West Elementary School performing in the Volm at 1 p.m.

—Mattoon Elementary School, Dec. 15, 1 and 6 p.m. in the gym.
—North Elementary School, Dec. 15, 1 p.m. at the Volm Theater.
—East Elementary School, Dec. 16, 1 p.m. at the Volm Theater.
—Spring Valley Elementary School, Dec. 16, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the gym.
—Crestwood Elementary School, Dec. 17, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the gym.
—Pleasant View Elementary School, Dec. 17, 1 p.m. at the Volm Theater.
—and the Middle school band, Jan. 18, 7:30 p.m. in the gym.
