The Shadyview, a popular dining, social and dancing spot between Mattoon and Bowler burned in a stubborn fire Sunday morning. The Bowler Fire Department was contacted at about 10 a.m. and called for assistance from the Birnamwood, Mattoon and Stockbridge departments and Rural Fire Control for specialized equipment. Most of the massive building was lost in the blaze. It had been operating Saturday evening.
