A pump was used to move cement into forms for the new restaurant at North Avenue and Neva Road this morning.

Work continues on new restaurant

Nov. 20, 2009

Contractors working on the new KFC/Taco Bell Restaurant in Antigo are catching a tremendous spell of great weather.

While the opening of the facility at North Avenue and Neva Road is not expected until the spring of 2010, the site work has been done, the first course of paving is down, lighting standards installed and today, PSI Concrete was pouring the walls of the building.

A cement pump was at the site to allow the heavy slurry to be brought to the top of the wall forms.

Jerry Wilhelm, the city’s building inspector, said the structure housing the restaurant will be just under 4,000 square feet.

“They’ve had great luck with the weather,” Wilhelm said, noting that a tremendous amount of electrical and structural work has already been done.

The truss system to support the restaurant’s roof are on the site and ready to be installed when the walls are completed.

The facility is being constructed by Doug Smith of Merrill, who owns the combination Taco Bell and KFC restaurants in Merrill and Medford.
