AMS Bulldogs boys teams tangle with Mosinee

Nov. 19, 2009

Receiving points from several Bulldog players Tuesday, the Antigo Middle School eighth grade boys basketball teams just couldn’t get the right combination together at home to overcome Mosinee. The A team lost 35-14 while the B squad fell 32-24.

A team

Looking for its first victory this season, the Bulldogs were led offensively by Brett Haakenson with five points. Ashton Barske contributed four, while Blake Kirsch and Cody Kakes added three and two respectively.

Defensively, Kirsch pulled down eight rebounds. Teammate Ryan Fassbender nabbed four.

Three games into the season, Haakenson and Barske control the offensive leader board with 10 points apiece. Kirsch has seven while Cody Kakes sits at six. Fassbender leads all rebounders with 19 and Kirsch has 14.

B team

Switching things up a bit on offense, the B squad found a couple combinations that worked well, but are still looking to tweak a few areas.

Putting a few spurts together, Dylan Packard led the scoring efforts with 10 points. Tyler Jaracewski added eight, A.J. Whited dropped in four and Jake Powell had two.

Improving on its rebounding—but lacking in consistency—Packard and Brad Kolpack led the way with four rebounds each.

In the fourth quarter, Kolpack forced numerous turnovers in assisting the team’s efforts.

Both teams return to the court tonight as they host Medford at 4 p.m.
