Ashley Schmidt bowls a 714 series to take over lead Oct. 29, 2009 There was serious business being attended to at North Star Lanes Wednesday. Well.... sort of.
Ashley Schmidt succeeded in a bid to take over the top spot in the Antigo women’s series race, but she did so with the accompaniment of a feather boa and pearls — all part of the Northland Ladies league’s Halloween dress-up festivities.
Bowling with the Filly’s, Schmidt chalked an incredible 714 triple — the first women’s 700 of the 2009-10 campaign but the Antigo kegler’s second of a lifetime. Last season, she scored a 724.
Schmidt notched the high mark by putting together a trio of top games — 244, 234 and 236. Combined, the scores gave Schmidt her second honor roll count of the 2009-10 campaign.
League-mate Kathy Wendt fell just short of the needed 600 by rolling a 587 series. Games were 207, 201 and 179.
Gail Remington was next in line at 538. Her best mark, a 216, followed a 120 and a 202.
Janet Heckert tallied marks of 161, 183 and 182 to earn a 526 triple followed by Rose Summ at 509. Games were 149, 179 and 181.
Paula Van Ooyen, Nancy Elliott and Sarah Raith all tied at 503. Van Ooyen posted games of 170, 185 and 148, Elliott rolled a 194, 150 and 159 and Raith fired a 119, 173 and 211.
Nancy Raith rounded out the top marks with a 500. Games were 156, 180 and 164.
