Parade of Homes marks 14th year here

Sept. 17, 2009

Langlade Hospital Auxiliary will host its 14th annual Parade of Homes Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. with locations in Deerbrook and Antigo.

This year five area homes of varying styles, contemporary to log lodge, will open their doors for a tour. Ages 13 and up are invited. It will offer a perfect opportnity to get ideas for your own remodeling, decorating, or landscaping needs.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the parade and can be purchased at Neve's Furniture & Flooring and Lakeside Pharmacy in downtown Antigo and at Schroeder Gifts on Antigo's south side. Tickets will also be available at the information desk of Langlade Hospital at 112 E. Fifth Ave.

Proceeds from the event will fund a portable ultrasound unit to provide stroke screening.

In the past 14 years the generosity of the community has helped the auxiliary purchase nearly $130,000 worth of equipment for Langlade Hospital.

The first Parade of Homes in 1996 helped get the Hospice and Lifeline programs started. In the following years a laparoscopic camera for the surgery department was purchased, and an audio infant screen unit. Funds were given for cancer treatment equipment and then a four-year project to help equip the dialysis center. In 2006 it was an x-ray machine for the rural dental program.

Over the last two years, all proceeds from the home tour went towards the new radiation equipment.
