Weather a little chilly, but racing here Friday heated Aug. 22, 2009 A fine car count and spirited competition helped break the chill of fallish weather Friday night at the racing at the Langlade County Fairgrounds speedway.
During the feature races, leads were traded like baseball cards delighting the crowd that braved temperatures in the 50s and a brisk wind.
Jake Solin had a huge smile on his face for the victory picture after taking the feature in the sports modified division. The young White Lake driver has been having quite a year on the race circuit.
He was followed across the line by Mark Rose of Elcho and Chad Jaje of Antigo.
Terry Anvelinik of Navarino posted another win in the late model division with Nick Anvelink of Bonduel in second and Todd Flannery, Antigo, in third.
Gary Kasperek of Tigerton posted another feature victory in the Wissota street stock class topping Gene Shawno Jr. of Argonne and Chris Votis of Crandon.
Antigo’s J.P. Remington took the feature title in the truck class with Sean Thayer of Lily second and Wausau’s Daniel Schmidt in third.
There was a big and fast turnout on the Fastrax division and they put on quite a show with side-by-side duels for the lead throughout the event.
When the dust setttled it was A.J. Diemel with the feature crown, Justin Hirt in second and Bret Sweedberg in third.
There was a fierce battle for the top spot in the IMCA modified class with Eagle River’s Pat Zdroik taking the win, David Diemel of Nichols in second and Antigo’s Charlie Wild, third.
Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski was the winner in the IMCA stock car division with Larry Karcz Jr, also of Pulaski in second and Michael Stankowsi of Wausau in third.
