Big Badgerland show here Sunday

Classics of all ages, ranging from early Fords to ’70s Corvette, will be on display at the 24th annual car show and swap meet presented by Badgerland Classics and Customs.

The show and sale will turn the midway area of the Langlade County Fairgrounds into a giant vintage parking lot on Sunday, with activities stretching throughout the day.

Registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon with viewing and judging throughout the day until the awards presentation at about 4 p.m. The class schedule stock autos and trucks first, followed by modified vehicles and motorcycles.

Among those bringing vehicles to the show will be Tom Pomasl of Antigo, whose pride and joy is his 1975 blue Corvette, Raymond Starr Jr. of Eland will show his 1969 Camaro SS which he purchased for $900 and has spent 6 1/2 years restoring and Dale Kangas of White Lake will show his 1968 Chevelle SS, a six-year project.

Over 90 trophies will be presented in 28 classes. They will include the coveted best of show and memorial awards. There will also be hardware for best GM, Ford, Mopar and Orphan stock and modified classes.

For the bikes, there will be first through third place prizes for stock, dresser, customs and vintage models.

Vintage snowmobiles will also be on display.

The fairgrounds will be a very busy place throughout the day. There will be an outdoor craft fair for browsers and, for youngsters of all ages, a model car and truck contest and make-and-take models.

And transportation of an earlier vintage will be on parade as well. The Langlade County 4-H horse and pony open show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the infield of the racetrack.

The is no admission charge to the public. Spectators are encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items to be eligible for special door prizes.
