Royals claim Little League minors title July 6, 2009 Antigo’s Little League Minor Division Championship game found the KC Bagel Royals outlasting the Waukesha Bearings Red Sox, 8-7, Wednesday.
In the first inning the Red Sox scored three runs on double pairs of base hits and walks.
The Royals came back to score a run in the bottom of the first putting the Red Sox up 3-1.
Charging back in the second inning, the Royals collected five runs, led by Matt Arndt’s three run homer run.
Top of the third inning the Red Sox would score three runs, topped by an A.J. Kirsch two-run double .
With the score knotted at six all, the Red Sox would score a run, off a Hunter Cornelius single, giving the Red Sox a one run edge of 7-6.
Having bases loaded, the Royals scored the tying and go ahead runs, when the Red Sox pitcher walked Mike Zabrowski for the win and the championship title.
Taking the mound for the Royals were Matt Arndt and Drew Schwarz.
In claiming the victory, they would allow eight hits, give up five walks and registered 13 strike outs.
Pitchers for the Red Sox were A.J. and Hunter Kirsch. The Kirsch brothers allowed eight hits, 10 walks and fanned 10.
Supplying the lumber for the Royals were Matt Arndt with two hits (home run) and Matt Winter slugging out a pair of hits.
Collecting one hit each was, Luke Berner, Ben Bartletti, Wade Farmer, and Devon Brisby with a double.
The Red Sox were led by A.J. Kirsch who had three hits including a double and a triple. Hunter Cornelius and Hunter Kirsch each collected two hits a piece, while Thomas Nelson added a single.
