On the doorstep to summer, Jaje, Scribner are Friday winners June 20, 2009 Eric Scribner dominated the IMCA modified class Friday evening at the Langlade County Fairgrounds speedway and Chad Jaje of Antigo picked up the feature title and a heat win in the very competitive sports modified class as the spring race season came to an end.
The Antigo stock car organization failed to field a late model race, with only three cars appearing for the evenings events raising questions about the future of the premier division here.
While the three late model drives didn’t race, there were dozens others who did and performed with gusto.
Eric Scribner, of Forest Junction, dominated the feature for the IMCA modified field despite repeated yellow flag starts.
Scott Williams, of Antigo, was second and Mike Wedelstadt of Freemont was third.
Another Antigo pilot, J.P. Remington, took the feature in the truck division topping Forrest Crandall of Birnamood and Robin Procknow of Wausau.
Gary Kasparek of Tigerton was back on the top of his game taking the feature in the WISSOTA street stock class and Argonne’s Gene Shawano Jr. was on his heels as was Dennis Kohn of Antigo.
In the sports modifieds, a popular and growing division here, Jaje topped Dave Stoffer of Shawano and Matt Orestkovich of Clintonville in the third spot.
Larry Karccz Jr. was the winner in the IMCA stock car division’s feature after coming to Antigo from Pulaski. He topped Michael Stankowski of Wausau for second and Gregory Gutt of Clintonville in third.
