Typhoon kick off 2010 season with 6-4 victory June 16, 2010 The Antigo Typhoon Legion baseball team started its season Thursday with a 6-4 win over Eagle River.
After two trips to the state tournament in a row, expectations are high for this team.
Riley Dahms started on the mound for the Typhoon, throwing four innings and giving up only one earned run on two hits and two walks.
Jordan Unsinn threw the fifth inning, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk. Jared Tomany pitched a perfect final two innings, striking out three of the six batters he faced.
Antigo got its offense going early with two runs in the first. A walk to Justin Schroepfer followed by a hit batter and a single by Josh Guenthner produced the first run. A single by Cody Schilcher followed up with a fielder’s choice by Garred Hoerman plated the second.
The Typhoon scored again in the second inning, as a Jake Tatro walk led to another RBI single from Guenthner.
In the third, Antigo added to its lead as a lead-off single by Hoerman was followed by an RBI hit from Dahms.
The remainder of Antigo’s offense came in the fourth, when Schroepfer singled to lead off the inning and was driven in by a long home run from Guenthner.
Leading the Typhoon’s offense was Guenthner, who finished 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Schroepfer, Schilcher, Hoerman, Jordan Sorano, and Unsinn each added singles.
The Typhoon will play a double header Thursday in Marshfield.
