Mattoon Loons fall to Hatley Braves 16-3 June 8, 2010 The Mattoon Loons were out manned Sunday as they took on the Hatley Braves, falling to a score of 16-3 in Hatley.
The Loons now carry a 1-3 record.
Braves winning pitcher Pete Volpe toed the rubber for the win. In all he gave up nine hits to the Loons.
Cole Kuenzli was handed the loss with assistance on the mound coming from Andy Hegewald, Kersey Resch and Zach Phyle. The pitching staff of the Loons gave up 12 hits and 17 base on balls in the contest.
Leading hitters for Mattoon are Resch hitting 3-for-4, Jake Tatro went 2-for-2, and Jake Laszewski was 2-for-4.
On the Braves side of the bats, Jay Heal totaled four hits, while Mitch Zblewski hit a grand slam.
The Loons will be back in action Sunday as they play in Aniwa.
