Pelican Lake's County League team begins season undefeated

The Pelican Lake Langlade County Junior team has taken a 4-0 standing in the league with wins against Crandon, White Lake, Spring Valley and town of Rolling, outscoring its opponents 70-25.

vs. Crandon

Jaeger Adams controlled the mound for Pelican Lake back on May 15, with relief coming from Seamus Roff. The pair gave up eight hits, issued 14 strike outs and one walk for the 11-3 win.

Crandon’s Mike Renkas took the loss. Morgan Krueger and George Tuckwab gave relief with the trio being rapped for seven hits, five strike outs and eight walks.

Roff led the Pelican Lake bats with a single and a double. Trenton Menomin and Mark Hansen each hit two singles.

vs. White Lake

With a barrage of 14 hits, Pelican Lake claimed a 26-7 victory over White Lake on May 24.

Joe Kubacki took the loss. Zach Mabry and Dylan Golahueh gave relief to Kubacki in allowing 14 hits. The trio combined for six strike outs, while giving up 16 walks.

Alec Smith claimed the win for Pelican Lake with assistance from B.J. McKinney. The pair gave up eight hits, struck out nine and awarded five free bases.

Recording hits for White Lake were Kubacki (3 triples) and Elijah Wickersheim with a pair of singles and a triple.

Roff led the Pelican Lake offense with two triples and a home run. Others receiving hits were Smith (single, 2 triples), Menomin (single, double), Eric Hurkmans (single, triple), and Dakota Littleton with a pair of doubles.

vs. Spring Valley

The combination of Roff and Menomin held Spring Valley to manufacturing five runs off of eight hits in comparison to Pelican Lake’s 19 hits and 21 runs on May 26.

Spring Valley’s pitching crew of Logan Jaje (loss), Colton Dvorak and Cody Kakes gave up nine walks while recording eight strike outs.

The plethora of hits came at the bats of Roff (2 singles, 2 doubles), Luke Brendemuehl (single, double), Smith (home run), Jaeger Adams (3 singles), Menomin (triple), McKinney (2 singles), Eric Hurkmans (4 singles), and Trevor Novak (single).

vs. Rolling

In its closest contest to date, Pelican Lake squeaked out a 12-10 win over town of Rolling Wednesday.

McKinney started on the mound for Pelican Lake lasting five innings before Menomin stepped in, followed by Roff. In all they allowed 13 hits with seven strike outs and five walks.

Rolling placed Cameron Igl on the mound, only drawing Dakota Theis and Tyler Bostwick from the bull pen. The trio gave up 12 hits, struck out four and walked six.

Recording hits for Pelican Lake are Brendemuehl, Smith, Adams, Menomin (2 doubles), McKinney (single, double) and Hurkmans (home run).

Rolling’s offense was led by Luke Osborn (3 doubles, home run), Nick Greening, Colton Zimmerman (single, double), Bostwick (triple) and Michael Bradley (2 doubles).
